Photo #136 ~ Walking

Another shot from the trip to Grand Forks where I slipped behind Shanice as we walked back to our car, and snapped this shot as if it were really a candid. I feel though that I should have perhaps cropped it closer around her figure to accentuate a personal feel. Alas when doing so I found the image less striking. The subtle vignette adds something of a tunneling effect to the image, making it only more interesting.

Photo #135 ~ Window Washer

I took this shot on my trip to Grand Forks , ND where I watched as a man cleaned the windows of this building with whom I can only image is his son helping him dry off the cleaning end of the instrument.

Photo #134 ~ Metering

Another shot from our photo walk in Grand Forks, where I caught view of this little wonder outside of the coffee shop. I have taken shots of meters before and I have always found them to be extremely interesting focal points.

This shot having been processed similarly to film in that the image was dodged and burned extensively. I like using the levels or curves tool to recover some of the color in the images, then using the layer blending effects I use a series of overlays dodging and burning as well as effects similar to framing to add an artificial vignette to the image.

I often find myself wondering why I try to limit my the creative extend of digital in some images like this one, but in others go all out taking full advantage of what digital photography has to offer.

Photo #133 ~ All Stars

On that same walk in Grand Forks North Dakota we discovered this pair of Converse All Stars strung up on  a telephone cable line between the alleyway.

Photo #132 Nest Of Wires

On my trip yesterday to Grand Forks, North Dakota, we stopped at our  favorite downtown coffee shop called Urban Stampede and picked up our coffees. Once we had enjoyed our beverages and our company we went outside to take a look at the classical brick city that sprawled out around us. This one of a telephone/cable junction caught my eye the simple chaos of the tangled wires struck me.

Photo #122 ~ Chain Link

This chain link caught my eye as I looked around my girlfriend's grandmothers's yard. The textures of the chains degradation has been restored in this image.

Photo #117 ~ Ice

On our last photo trek we visited a small park in Red Lake Falls approximately 15miles south of Thief River. Located in a river valley we found ourselves shooting anything we could see. I actually had a change to teach Shanice a few things about photography, but being the artist she is it seems redundant as she quickly learned on her own developing her own vision. This gave me plenty of time to shoot this shot of a piece of river ice washed ashore.
